East of Heaven

crusheverything Jeff is one of the most inventive guitarists in rock. He can hold his own in a shred-off with anyone, but always plays with taste and knows how to build tension and deliver the big pay-off like a true master. His melodic sensibility and scary chops make a lethal combination! His acoustic songs have an understated elegance that can move the listener with pastoral beauty. I can’t think of a more well-rounded and exciting player on the scene these days. Keep it coming, Jeff! - Chris Yancik

about

'East of Heaven' is Jeff's sixth studio album as a solo artist.

Reviews:

The beauty of this album is the depth and expression Jeff builds into every song (yes, song) and he isn’t over flashy or shredding like a maniac: he can do that as well, but only if the song dictates it. The laid back, percussive ‘East Of Heaven’ is astounding without any histrionics at all; imagine Jeff Beck duetting with Steve Morse… it’s that good. The closing track, ‘See You On The Other Side‘, is an acoustic delight with various motifs blending so well, and then picked electric adds another voice that says so much.
- Tom Dixon, RAM zine

With all the amazing guitarists, it is hard to stand apart from the pack, but Kollman’s skillful compositions give him an edge over the shredders of today. The CD is a diverse collection, presenting many styles and moods, East of Heaven shows that Kollman is Master of All Trades and a jack of none.
- Eric Porter, Sea of Tranquility

With “East of Heaven,” Kollman gives listeners a taste of his own sonic history while keeping the journey both engaging and enthralling. There is no shortage of talent in songwriting, be it the intrigue within each individual track of the well-balanced display of styles spread across the album as a whole (...) Superb execution, crisp production, and an experienced artist’s vision leave no stone unturned, and give Kollman another gem to his discography.
- Samantha Beckman, Sonic Perspectives
